This is my take on Nokia Booklet 3G which I recently trialled thanks to wonderful folks at WOMWorld/Nokia. I decided not to put regular review on this one unless it’s not a typical thing that we are covering here. I mean it’s not a mobile… but it’s a mobile thing :) Many of you out there might have or have had in the past netbook. You know, that little brother of notebook. You know that you can’t play newest games on it but you want it to be the best at what it was made for. Being mobile.  Market is flooded with many different models that are basically the same (except few differences) but are those devices doing their job well? I thought that my Samsung N210 is just brilliant unless i got my hands on Nokia Booklet 3G… Here is why. (more…)

Ultimate camera smackdown! Is E5′s EDOF camera that bad?

There was a lot of buzz recently about Nokia’s new strategy on middle-end phone’s cameras. I’m talking about EDoF. Some of you might not be familiar with this abbreviation so I’m here to help. Basically, without going techie on this one, it means that the camera module can’t focus on a one, particular object. The camera is able to focus on all the things that are in the distance from 50cm to infinity. It means that you can say ‘bye bye’ to all those stunning close-ups and macros that you took before with your smartphone.

Unfortunately it looks like whole new Eseries line-up is going to go EDoF and leave the Auto-Focus equipped cameras to multimedia centered Nseries. Today, I’m going to compare Nokia E5′s 5mpix camera with 6700 slide (5mpix Carl Zeiss) and E71 (3,2mpix AF). I tried to took pics in several different light conditions and distances (low light, daylight, close-up’s and normal pics). Just for your information – all the pics above are uncompressed, unedited and even not watermarked. All the phones had the latest firmware available at the moment and the lenses were clean. (more…)
